  • how did you get the tools to install? I've been having all kinds of problems with my workstation and ubuntu 6.06 install.

  • more importantly, what is the correct sequence of commands required to fix vmware tools after you've updated kubuntu and broken the tools?

  • Hey man! Thanks for taking the time to do this
    Good Fortune!

  • Thanks for supplying this, but where is the vmware tools? Your blog and posting says tools is installed, but as with a previous post, it ain't there! One of the reasons I spent the time to download was the tools pre-installed. Without vmware tools, I could have installed it myself. Are they hidden, or forgotten? Let us know. Thanks.

  • I don't really understand the problem. I installed it, and it can be found in the /usr/lib/vmware-tools, and there are some commands in the /usr/bin. Without vmware-tools I wasn't able to use the internet at all or the shared folders feature... Probably the update broke the vmware tools. Try to reconfig the vmware tools by running vmware-config-tools.pl.

  • Hi. Could you please provide an MD5 checksum of that ZIP archive? Thank you.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:53 PM

  • I will provide the MD5 checksum for the next archives.

  • I've downloaded the zip file twice now, and both times I have been unable to extract it.

I tried a couple different unzip programs, they all complained saying it "isn't a valid archive", or "no files to extract."

Is the file corrupted? Am I doing something wrong?

  • To solve your problem I can only suggest that try to download the latest Kubuntu from http://virtual-appliances.blogspot.com/2006/07/kubuntu-606-i386-virtual-machine.html. I provided the MD5 checksum for it!
